Easter Sunday

We had a fabulous Easter weekend.  It was full with several sessions of stake conference but we also had time to make more family memories.  Once again Corbin found the golden egg!

 Vivian stuffed the eggs for the outdoor hunt while the others were at a early morning youth fireside.

 We actually started our Easter celebration with the scripture eggs that retell the story of Christ's resurrection.  I found the information here for the resurrection eggs HERE.

 Everyone is searching high and low for eggs.  Do you see Tisha in the background?  Her and David joined us for dinner.

 Tisha made this delicious gluten free Easter cake!  Oh course, the peeps and jelly beans were sought after.

We all enjoyed Corbin's bunnies, Shadow and Copper.  This was our first time with Copper - isn't he precious!  He was patient with me and my need to cuddle him.

Pictures of Christ

I have been thinking about Easter and what I could give the children.  In the past I have sporadically  done the Easter dresses and ties, but this year I wanted to focus on the real meaning. So I decided that I would like to give them each a picture of Christ for their bedroom.  I started looking at Seagull book, but didn't really find anything without spending a fortune.  So I decided to choose a 5x7 print and frame it myself.  With Olivia's help we chose these pictures specifically for each child.

I wish your family all a Happy Easter weekend as we celebrate the resurrection of our Savior, Jesus Christ.  He is the one who teaches me how to love, how to be a mother, how to forgive, and how to be guided by the spirit.  I know that he lifts me through my trials and that he can make me whole again.  May we all feel of his infinite love and peace.

Make Your Own: Easter Egg Dye Recipe

Make Your Own: Easter Egg Dye Recipe

Add 3/4 cup water
1 teaspoon vinegar
McCormick Food Coloring drops

You will also need: newspaper/paper towels, hard-boiled eggs, cups, spoon, crayons (optional)

Spread the newspaper over your work surface.

If you want to make designs on your eggs, you can draw on the eggs with crayons. The wax will not come off when you dye the eggs.

Now prepare the dye for coloring your Easter eggs. You will need a separate cup or container for each color.

Place one teaspoon of vinegar in each container. Add about 1-1/2 cups of hot water (hot tap water is fine) to the vinegar.

Once you have the vinegar and hot water in the containers for your Easter eggs, add a few drops of food coloring to each container.

Now dip each egg in the dye. Let the egg site in the dye for several minutes to allow the color to adhere.Use a spoon to remove the egg from the dye.



Wipe the water off with a paper towel, and place the eggs in a container, such as an empty egg carton to dry.

Once you're finished with all of your eggs, store them in the refrigerator.

Read on for a special technique to make a tie-dyed effect on your colored Easter eggs.

If you want to create a tie-dyed look on your Easter eggs, simply place the cooled hard-boiled eggs in a colander in the sink.


Add a few drops of food coloring to the hard-boiled eggs in the colander. Very gently, shake the eggs, so the food coloring spills over all the sides of the eggs, being careful not to crack the eggs.

Now rinse the eggs with cool water.


Now add a few drops of a new color of food coloring to the eggs in the colander. Again, very gently, jiggle the colander so the eggs gently touch each other and spread the color all around.

Rinse the eggs with cold water.

Repeat the whole process with a third color.

After you've added the final color, rinse the eggs again. Dry with a paper towel. Place in a container, such as an empty egg carton, to store. Refrigerate the eggs.
