A New Blueberry Muffin Recipe

I am on some kind of blueberry fetish.  I was craving blueberry pancakes last night (which we had for dinner) and then today I decided to make a quadruple batch of blueberry muffins.  The blueberries needed used soon because they had been in the freezer a while.  (No I'm not pregnant - I don't know why I am having these cravings!)

I have a great blueberry muffin recipe, but I don't like that it calls for a lot of butter.  So I searched for a healthier muffin and I found one that is my new favorite.  Check it out here on me and my sister's recipe blog, Let's Gather in the Kitchen.

The Garden is In

At our last Relief Society meeting, I learned about using black plastic and tires in my garden to keep the weeds under control.  First you need to make your rows with furrows as dividers to be able to water it underneath the plastic. 



 Then you make a cut in the plastic and plant your item.  I planted all my tomatoes in tires and then a middle row of watermelon, zucchini, and a cucumber plant. I am hoping that this works!  I still have some more work to do to finish off this plastic area (as you can tell from the photo below).

 So here is the garden - it is surrounded by weeds that need mowed and then killed.  I have a beautiful row of peas, many red potato plants, 100 onions, some strawberries, herbs, and peppers.  I still need to plant pumpkins.

Memorial Day

Saturday we attended a Memorial service at a local cemetery, this is a annual tradition that we started last year.  The ceremony was wonderful even in our winter coats!  I am grateful to our military and their families that make it possible for us to live in this free land.

This is one of my favorite family events.  We have so much to be grateful for - our families, our country, and our God.  After the service, they provide hotdogs, soda, chips and frozen treats - which is an added bonus!

Try a New Hair Do

This morning I decided to try something new with my hair.  So I looked at a hair blog that Jody sent to me - thank you!  The blog is called My Yellow Sandbox - it's super cute and has great easy ideas, especially if you have longer hair.   This hair do is the wedding bun.  Mine looks okay, but her's looks awesome.
